Here's a rough cut of an original song written by Jim, inspired by Bob Hill, retired Louisville Courier-Journal writer and locally renowned gardener & author. One of Bob's final columns was about
his old pick-up truck. He told of his love for the old (blue) girl and of all the joy she had brought him in his time with her. He has since traded the old-girl in for a brand spankin' new truck, but he still has fond memories. This little
tune is for him - she was a jewel; he should definitely keep her in his memory.
Another tune recently written by Jim. Also a rough cut on an original song inspired by Jim's old neighborhood, Highland Park (Louisville, Ky.). The Park was taken by the city for airport expansion, thus no longer exists. The sad part is that it has sat undeveloped for
years now. So many families were chased out, many of them senior citizens who had planned on living the balance
of their life there. Jim says he still dreams about going back home, but there's nothing left of the old neighborhood.

And one that just came out of the blue for Jim:
told the story. Jim thinks there may have been some channeling going on - it certainly doesn't reflect his life; instead,
it's the kind of song Hank Williams (Sr.) might have written. It too is a rough cut, but Jim enjoys messing around with
his home recording equipment. He says it's a good way to document and keep track of everything he's written.

Hey Jim, I listened to all your practice session songs. During "Midnite Special," wished I could turn back time to before Ed's demise.... but I enjoyed the blend of instruments on these songs.... the bass on Fever was great & banjo even!! who' woulda thunk it? Loved hearing mandolin in the background on these cuts and glad you have a woman's voice in the band. As usual, "Blue Moon" is one of my favorites that you do - so I sang harmony with you while it played. Coal Tattoo was also a good one. Congrats on finding a wholesome bunch to make music with - and to whoever set up your website. Great job. ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2009 Jim, Thanks....you guys/gal always welcome here...I've got another festival (Crane House/Asian Culture) on Oct. 17th.. I Like your new tunes esp. the one about Highland Park. I haven't been writing recently. Last composition was last summer, a song about Tim Krekel. I believe you would like it. I did make a mono track recording on cassette tape but, have no way to convert to digital. Hope to see you at HF (Kentucky Homefront) Tim
